Research Process - Learning Networks (01 Dec 2011)

Learning/Translation Networks:
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this Duolingo website from techweb.com website:

http://duolingo.com/

The idea is that it is crowdsourced text translation. Anyone can sign up and learn a new language such as Spanish, German, French, Italian or Chinese. They can also translate texts into another language and then save these for others to learn with. In a way like wikipedia the authority behind these can be questioned however with enough people to check them, they can be given a certain amount of authentication.

Learning through Social Networks:
------------------------------------
Also I have been thinking about sharing language learning by viral means through social networks.

How would I disseminate a character, a word, or a sentence so that it is memorable, clearly identifyable?

For a character it could be saved as a large image with the pinyin.

What are the new questions for the survey that I would like to run?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
What is difficult about learning the characters?

Essential questions I can ask myself when judging pieces of work?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Has it been done before?
